I think you meant Doo-Doo, not DoDo? ;D

More on-topic…I don’t they are worried too much. They will probably just go on a spending spree and buy up all their competition (wait thats what they do all the time anyway…I wonder if they have a plan B? ;D). If he is leaking a bit now, not all, he is probably trying to ransom them.
I think you meant Doo-Doo, not DoDo?Yes, thanks!
Wonder if he’ll give me some of it. ;D
But won’t it be easier for malware makers to be able to bypass Norton AV if they know how it works in detail? Couldn’t they reverse engineer it and make a fake AV look-alike? Or would they go beyond that and construct a malware that adds a rouge Norton AV that looks exactly like it, fools the real Norton, then they change the reg keys at start so it points to their fake AV and such? Or would they just find out the ‘safe way’ to terminate Norton AV?
???
I read another report on that lawsuit that says that it is very unlikely to succeed. Symnantec very likely may have tiptoed around things enough to prevail. The hacker thing is what should be prosecuted.
Wish there was a way to nuke him (the hacker, I mean)!
Wish there was a way to nuke him (the hacker, I mean)! You could send him a trojan ;D
Fake UI would be doable…although if someone wanted to do a fake Norton UI, and do it right, it would have to be a labor of love, since Norton would probably win a “Sexiest Anti-Virus Interface Alive” award if one existed. I mean take a look at Unthreat (not saying thats a rogue) who does a stunning rendition of Avast!'s UI ( >:( :
), albeit with an altered color scheme.
As to terminating/replacing it…well, having your source code exposed (when you are not ready for it or intended to be open) certainly can’t help them protect against that. Exactly how weak this could make Norton (and by proxy any Win PC it is installed on) is beyond my ken.
What I meant by “not worried” is not so much short term (I’m sure there is lots of overtime being clocked at Symantec HQ), but long term. They have the $$$ to weather this, possibly even spin-doctor it via marketing to a positive.
After all, McAfee turned many systems to relative bricks ~a couple years or so ago when the released an update that declared svchost as infected…many of these systems used in hospitals and by law enforcment, so potentially people got hurt or died because of it…to date, I have noticed not much impact (if any) on the number of McAfee OEM pre-installs.
Indeed, there is no way this will increase protection of those who use Norton Antivirus… :
If there was anything that they could discover “how an antivirus work”, they got it…
At the very least it has to be a huge PR blow. Who would know what to trust as far as explanations go? Most companies wouldn’t say, “Yep, they got us and got a good look into Fort Knox.”
Chicken one day…feathers the next! ;D
Dodo is already extinct in Mauritius
There's always someone out there with nothing better to do than make virus's. If he's
working on symantec just find another antivirus program. >:(
Thats a shame i should say
Anyway i dont care what symantec says about such fraud…they say they protect against fraud and they themselves have become a victim of our special undetectable indian frauds ;D
so symantec Suffered from a massive infection…
Say:
Win32:indian Fraudo
lol!
You almost seem proud, 0Indian :
Are you saying that this fraud is undetectable?
Certainly nothing to be proud of. Who knows which company they’ll pick on next ???

+1
Specially because some countries compel the companies to reveal the code and then they lost it…
It happened with Kaspersky before in 2008 by a ex employee.
