Okay, I really need help with something

Okay, so about 3 or 4 years ago I got the free version of Avast. Ever since I uninstalled this program, whenever I try to connect to a server to do anything, (e.g. update iTunes, update Google Chrome, or try to get Adobe programs [they need to connect to servers]), it says Could not connect to server. Now I finally found the problem: Avast.

Avast made it so that whenever I attempt to use a program that connects to the internet, it left some firewall or something that makes it not work. I am positive It’s Avast that did this, as I’ve tried everything else to remove this. I also tried the Avast uninstall utility in Safe Mode, which did not fix the issue, probably because that Avast version that did this to me was 3 or 4 years old. Avast is not on my computer and has no program files or anything as far as I know.

Please help me fix this issue. I don’t want to have to reinstall Windows and never get this program again.

attach Farbar Recovery Scan Tool diagnostic logs here in this topic
you find it here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Are you serious? I have no malware. Avast did this.

it is a DIAGNOSTIC program that will show all kind of issues, not ONLY created by malware

and i have been here for some time, it is not my first post here

Oh ok cool. Which program on that thread should I use?

read my first post here…

If you really did uninstalled avast and did it the correct way, the problem can’t be avast since it is not there anymore.

If Avast could be uninstalled easily, I don’t think there’d be thousands of threads on uninstalling and an uninstall utility.

If people would take time to learn on how to use software/computers…

Are you serious? I have avid knowledge on both subjects. I program C++, C Sharp, VB.net, Batch, and Python and code HTML, CSS, SQL, ASP.net, and PHP. I also work as a hardware engineer, and I can assemble a motherboard, as well as a full computer.

I know that I removed it from Add/Remove programs back in 2010-2011, but it is KNOWN for not fully installing. Please assist me. ):

I want to avoid installing all of those programs, so can you tell me which specific program on that thread is the diagnostics tool.

Pondus already told you which program “Farbar Recovery Scan Tool”

You could also run a search for Avast and Alwil, do the same in the registry.

As suggested you really need to run the Farbar Tool and post the log.
The few minutes it takes to do this may help find all issues…not just the one you “think” you have.
However, if you already have uninstalled Avast you can also/then run a cleaner tool.
Here is the recommended one from the Forum: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

Also, if you have had other previous A/Vs installed I’d go find their “cleaner” tools as well.
Here is list from Avast on others: http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle

Lastly, I “personally” recommend CCleaner https://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER as a general tool to keep on all PCs.
I NEVER EVER would recommend any other general cleaner or reg cleaner except CCleaner.
Do some research online but this one comes with long history and reliable.

Hope that helps.

Okay, I also have CCleaner and I just got Farbar Recovery Scan tool. I hit Scan, let’s wait…

Here is the log files. Now what? :frowning:

And where are the other logs from the thread Pondus gave you?

Re-read Pondus’ question. He asks me to only get FRST (Farbar Recovery Security Tool), which is what I did get.

It is not Avast it was your previous AV/Firewall http://www.boomerangsoftware.com/

When it was uninstalled it corrupted your winsock and IP stack

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer
