Old Avast versions and filehippo

Seems Filehippo has old versions of avast for download and I was curious if anyone knows if their site is a legitimate site for older versions of avast software? As in, no malware slipped into the exe. I can’t find old versions on the avast sites and it seems rather odd they would expect people to use another website for them.

Anyone have any suggestions of any other sites to find older versions?

As in malware free. Anyone know why avast doesn’t give out old versions? Seems illogical to not have a bank of them.

FileHippo is a reputable site. I have been using it for years without problems. However any site can be compromise at any time.

Other good place to download programs: http://www.filehorse.com/

Thank you for your comment and suggestion.

Anyone else have any thoughts(you veteran avast users)?

FileHippo is a reputed site, and therefore, can be used to download older versions. However, I had recommended it to a person who wanted to install 7.0.1466, and he told that after he downloaded that version from FileHippo, it shows the version as 7.0.147465, or something like that. So, he downloaded it from oldapps.com, the link which is posted in the above reply. That file was good.

  1. As with CapriAnupam’s experience, the last time I tried, I found that FileHippo was actually giving me the latest build of avast, despite purporting it to be an older one that I was looking for. So I had to find an alternative download site then (I no longer recall which site I used).

  2. The older avast version contained an “expiration date test”: as soon as I tried installing it, it advised me that the build I wanted [which was about 6 months old] had been replaced by a newer one, and that it would proceed to get the latest build from the website. This would have defeated my purpose in seeking-out the older build.
In order to run [and keep] that old build:
a - I had to reset the PC’s calendar to believe it was running 6 months earlier, when that build was still “current”.
b - I disconnected my PC from the internet, so as to be sure this old build wouldn’t immediately search for and download any newer builds.
    c - I ran the [old] installer.
d - when the installation was completed, I opened the avast interface to make sure that PROGRAM updates were set to MANUAL.
e - finally, I reconnected my PC to the internet, so that avast would find the latest DEFINITION updates.
