Old Computer--Owner dead--Need password to access Avast antivirus.

At work we have an old computer. The original owner is dead. He has AVAST antivirus install. When I try to update avast ask for a password. The original owners office email will not work to reset the password and no one knows his personal email. Is there a way to recover the password? or to upgrade avast without a password. We can not even remove avast from the computer.
