Folder count does not progress from /1 folder until scan is completed.
Have to admit I didn’t notice this in my last scan, your signature still reports 7.0.1474, but your image shows avast 8 and I’m assuming you are using the 8.0.1484 public beta build ?
I suspect this may not be a bug, more a result of an option in version 8 and that is to ‘scan files in the order they are stored on disk,’ scan settings, Performance, File access.
This would make it difficult to calculate when all of the files in a folder have actually been scanned as the order they are on disk has no direct bearing on the folder they are in.
Thank you for that. I do not remember such a setting on 7, is new for me. Found the setting where you said it was.
Not a bug, ok.
It was only introduced in avast 8 to speed up scanning.
Well it would be a bug if you unchecked that and it still didn’t indicate folders scanned to the end of the scan.
Well, seeing as it only saves 43 seconds from the previous quick scan, not really needed, nor is it statistically significant time-wise, on this older system.
Also noted that there is a “default scan” button ticked for quick scan that was not there in 7, so will go exploring the differences between the old and new. Apparently one has to have either the full or quick scan ticked as default in the new setup…
Thank you for your support ;D No bug here.
This might improve things after time, I do know it made a major difference on my Quick scan on my win7 netbook down to seven and a half minutes for 11.8GB down from about 12 minutes.
It didn’t make as great a difference on my XP Pro system, but it did make a noticeable difference.
