You probably solved this issue, but I couldn’t find it, sorry. I installed avast Home edition on two computers. On one computer it works just fine, and the other just won’t start on-access protection. The Logon information for the avast! service is Local System Acc, Interact with Desktop is checked.
Hi and welcome,
can you try running a repair . Go add/remove programs and hit the repair option .
You must be online when you do this for it to work.
nope, it didn’t do the trick
can you check your taskmanager to see which services are running.
all avast! services are started
Are you sure you have 5
ashdisp.exe
ashserv.exe
aswupdsv.exe
ashwebsv.exe
ashmaisv.exe
task manager shows all of them running
How have you been told that its not working?
can you click on “a” ball and take a screen shot of standard sheild
Do you use any startup monitor? like PrevX, WinPatrol, TeaTimer, Ad-watch, ProcessGuard?
Any other antivirus installed in your computer?
No other antivirus installed
Anything in the Error cathegories of avast! Log Viewer?
I attached the log. Hope it helps
OK, there are obviously some problems with ODBC drivers on this computer.
You can try to reinstall the ODBC drivers (downloadable as MDAC package from Microsoft), or switch avast! to XML storage (in program settings, Troubleshooting page).
Switching to XML storage didn’t help, but I’ll try reinstalling ODBC drivers. Thanks anyway
Did you restart the computer after changing the storage type?
Offcourse! Reinstalling ODBC driers did the trick
