im new to avast and have a question about on access protection
do i need to have all 5 protections running or just the standard sheild? im on the net alot and use k-lite.
win xp pro sp1
zone alarm
what would you recomend?
Well,“standard” set of providers would be (for Home Edition) a Standard Shield,Instant Messaging,Internet Mail (Or MS Outlook/Exchange depending on which mail client you use) and P2P Shield. Standard Shield and Internet Mail can be enough, but Instant Messaging and P2P Shield provide much thorough scan of transfered files.
thanks
how does this affect system performance? if i have all 5 on at once?
Its a very minimal impact especially under NT systems (Win2000/XP) even at High Sensitivity.
Depends on the number and size of the archive files…
In general, RejZor is right as usual ;D
avast eats less resources than the others (McAfee, NAV, etc.)
Well archives are excluded in Home Edition and also in Pro (by default). Don’t worry about security though, when you want to access any file inside any archive it has to be extracted somewhere (usually in TEMP directory) and than avast! scans them and blocks if it detects a malware.
Its a very simple to understand when you understand it hehe
