I have avast 4.7 home version and am using it with windows xp professional and mozilla firefox- my problem is that when ever I do anything I get Avast on-access scanner messages popping up from the bottom of the screen, this occurs both on and off line and I find it very intrusive. I think that it needs a minor adjustment to one of the settings to correct this but haven’t a clue what to adjust and would welcome any advice ???

Left click the “a” icon. Select the standard shield provider from the left panel. Click the customize button. Click the advanced tab. Uncheck the “show detailed info on proformed action” box. Do the same with all other providers, as you don’t mention which provider is alerting you.

If the providers aren’t shown in the left panel, click details at the bottom of the popup.
What oldman didn’t say is that this option is disabled by default, so it would appear that you have been tweaking avast, not knowing what the effect would be, the avast help file is very ‘helpful’ for this and well worth a browse.
