just right click blue A ball and select on-access protection control ,then select the relevant provider then hit activate button .
that should fix it
Hi Cloussau
Are you refering to the A icon on the taskbar ?
This icon is no longer there since I have de-activated the scanner earlier on. ???
it shouldnt dissappear??? it should just have a red circle with diagonal line when not running.
something is out of whack
check the icon isnt hidden
try starting Avast thru normal menu
I shut down non-critical processes using Windows task manager. One of the processes is ash.Disp.exe. The “A” icon disappears after I shut down this process. How to activate this again ?
i can only suggest reboot
Maybe I will not shut down this process in future… saves the hassle.
Thanks for your reply. ![]()
in future pause it via the A ball and you will have no problems
pacman2004
You could try one other approch.
Click on the HelpfulShortcuts link in my signature and select
RejZor’s excellent AvastExternalControl (AEC) program.
Select the avast! Main Control and then select and run Disable avast! Anti Virus Protection.
I would not use this if your online because it completely turns off avast!
ashDisp.exe is the icon… if you close it (kill it), you won’t see the icon :![]()
You can only run it again: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exe
