OK. None of the previous threads help with this problem. Alexa isn’t the same as it was 3 or 4 years ago. I use their toolbar as an aid in my website SEO rankings. I want to use the program, regardless of what happened years ago. Website SEO has become the latest way to increase your website and search result rankings and is too important to not use.
The file that keeps coming up as a warning has been put in the exceptions. That does not help. It continues to come up as a warning and then stops the install of the toolbar. What else can I do so the toolbar is allowed to load?
OK. I’ve read those and others. That is not the point. I have a laptop that is only for my website. I want to have this installed. It aids in SEO and if you can’t understand that, I can’t help you. Regardless of whether you like it or not or consider it a threat is not the point. I want it on this particular computer. So besides the usual “I hate Alexa toolbar rhetoric”, is there anyway to allow this program to load?
This could be the add-on for you, and have your info from there: http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/
Install the extension inside Firefox or Flock browser and enjoy,
At the same time, you need to consider that this is an anti-malware forum and your request is a bit unusual. Most people are looking to get rid if this and other spyware, viruses and trojans. CharleyO was only trying to help and warn you with respect to the nature of this software, even if you were already aware of it. Perhaps Polonus’s suggestion may be a safer and better alternative for you.
Unfortunately the comments do not help. If I cannot get help in stopping this alarm, I will have to revert to AVG’s free program that has no problem placing this program on an exception list for all those that care about their website ranking. It is a business decision.
I remember how annoying it was when my screensaver became malware overnight after an update included it as an FP.
Just a side-issue I know, but should you decide to “revert to AVG’s free program”, I’m not completely sure they will be overjoyed to welcome back a “business” user.
On demand right click the “a” icon, click program settings, click exclutions
On access left click the “a” icon, click on the provider you want to exclude the file in. Most likely it will be standard shield. Click the customize button, click the advanced tab.
