Hi malware fighters,
You could do the following:
- Take care that all the software you use, has been downloaded anew,
and do not use those that are already on the system,
because they can be compromised. - Never use any cracked versions of software.
- Run HijackThis on your comp (use the known web forums for info
or maybe go to http://www.hijackthis.de to have your logs evaluated)
(let them know that remote control programs are undesirable too). - Fix unnecessary items and malicious crap using hijackthis.
- Use ATF Cleaner or ClearProg to cleanse out crap or temp files.
- Run hitmanpro (http://www.hitmanpro.nl) (or the english version there)
with your virus scanner installed/ - Install Avast fully (reliable av-scanner)
- Install Comodo for a firewall (do not use the 3.x version,
but the less irritating version from: http://www.filehippo.com/download_comodo/?2252 - Run the program SafeXP
(http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm) - Whenever you wanna check your proggies for rogue ones and crap, install
WinPatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/) - Update all your software using (http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/)
(best advice ever) - Better you update Windows also:
If doing so you can have some form of security. Also look for legit software,
that can be abused (so-called riskware) Think in the line of e.g. P2P software, VNC, remote
admin, etc.Lookup the software list in your configuration screen for questionable software.
