Onedrive folders blocked in Chrome but visible in Edge

I’m trying to view my OneDrive online via Chrome (my default browser) but Avast is blocking access. I know this because turning off shields allows me access. However I can view OneDrive folders online via Edge (my no preferred browser) with Avast shields up.
I’ve been looking around settings but can’t find the answer and it’s driving me nuts!
Hope someone out there can help me please?

Hello MisterFredUK, welcome to the community.

Did you get any alert from Avast? If you clear cache and cookies from your Chrome browser, does it change?

I get a message to say ‘Failed to Fetch’. I also get issues with other sites that try to open a new browser page saying ‘Request blocked’. Clearing cache and cookies doesn’t fix it, and incognito mode is no different.

OK so it means Chrome browser itself is somehow blocked.

  • When it starts?
  • What Avast Product, edition and version do you use?
  • Other security software are/were you using?
  • What OS are you using?

In the meantime, I would suggest to stop these shields/functions one by one to isolate possible cause:

  1. Web Shield
  2. Firewall
  3. VPN
  4. Web Hijack Guard (if you have)
  5. Tracking Prevention (if you have)

I can’t remember when it started but a few months I have had such problems.
Avast One 24.12.6140a (build 24.12.9694.762), Windows 11, no other security software.
I turned off Web Shield and now everything works correctly so it much we a setting in that part of Avast?

I’ve re-enabled Web Shield but disabled HTTPS scanning and now things are working OK.

Disabling HTTPS scanning effectively nullifies Avast Web protection, so that’s not a recommended solution. I don’t know why it fails for Chrome on your machine… maybe repair?
Avast UI => Account => Settings => Troubleshooting => Repair Avast One.
