Unfortunately, this was earlier today on a client’s laptop and I can’t remember the exact message. When you download Avast! these days it only downloads an installer, which then proceeds to download the whole thing. I wanted to install Avast! on the client’s laptop but the installer said it was unable to download the main program. I rebooted and tried again and it still failed. I ended up installing Microsoft Security Essentials instead.
So I’ve been looking for a full Avast! offline installer, but they don’t seem to provide that any more. You probably don’t care but you just lost another customer for your free product, guys. I can’t see me recommending Avast! to friends and colleagues if the installer chokes on the main download.
