I received an email today (from Onlineresearch AVAST) inviting me to take part in a online paid survey that pays $35 upon completion. I tried to search the forum to be sure this is legitimate but saw no other info. Is anyone familiar with these surveys? I want to be sure it’s a safe link to click. Thank you in advance.
Certainly not anything I would react to.
I’ll report this to Avast to see if they have a reply.
Play it safe and treat it like a scam which is 99.999% is.
A screenshot would help.
Thanks for your reply. On the bottom it says, IMPORTANT: Please do not forward this message. We cannot accept participants who have not registered with us. If you know of anyone who would like to participate in our studies, please ask them to register at our website: https://www.avast.com/online-registration.php?. Thanks!
I can see at least two errors in the grammar, not something I would trust.
As I said, not something I would answer. It would already be in the trash if it came to me.
Wait for Avast to give you their reply.
Initially I got an email offering the surveys (a few weeks back) and instead of clicking the link I went to https://www.avast.com/online-registration.php and registered. Thought that was important to add. Is that a legit avast link?
Not one that I would click.
I did not click it, I went to that address.
The email is legit (and the survey… and the online research… and the $35 Amazon gift card too ).
What makes me even more suspicious in any email is the use of a strange link rather than an avast page explaining about the survey and only then have a link to the 3rd party survey site.
I thank you all for your help with this. Someone from Avast said it is legitimate but I really don’t feel confident doing these surveys under the circumstances that other experienced Avast forum leaders aren’t even aware of the surveys and information was so difficult to find. I appreciate your responses.
You’re welcome.
Generally I never take part in any survey, be that on-line, by mail, by phone or in the street.
legit or not. It’s certainly not good that a Security Co. sends out emails that make people doubt their security.
I agree, that’s why we escalated this to the team responsible for these surveys to make sure that in the future messages like this one are clearer and with little to no room for misinterpretations.
Thanks, hope you had an input.
