…since I updated to 17.1.2286 it takes much too long to open programs!
It’s about the setting “check programs during start” (don’t know the exact english wording, I’m using german language)
When I disabale this setting, it’s ok!
Avast 17.1.2286
Win 10 64bit / version 1607
installed Avast version before: 16.x
When I open libre office it takes over 5 seconds until the libre office splash screen
When I open a pic it takes over 5 seconds to see the pic - because the pic viewer is loaded too slow
On a SSD!
Don’t forget that avast has introduced new scanning/detection technologies.
The more checks (more thorough detection methods), the slower things will become.
I replied that I also experienced this problem and linked to my topic in case any dev was interested in reproduction.
It is sad to see my comment was deleted.
I installed the 2288 beta: it’s much worse now!
Open libre calc (10 times): 15 seconds (before 6 seconds)
Open a small pic: 8 seconds (before 5 seconds)
Without exe scan:
libre calc: 1,5 seconds
pic viewer: 1 second
CPU load is around 3% (with or without exe scan)
Again: does it happen only on my system? Can you guys confirm, that it does NOT happen with your Win10 64bit system?
Win10 x64 1607 with the latest Avast Internet Security, updated via the ui for the last several versions with no other security software on the machine now or ever.
All exe files open extremely slow. The issue is resolved when file system shield or scan on execution/opening is disabled. Is there something wrong with the persistent/transient caching?
It might be a bug? How many people have reported this now? This is a major problem and it’s been present in the last two versions of the software.
It’s ridiculous that something this big, an issue that affects nearly every aspect of the PC to such a large degree is present at all in paid software.
