open files from internet explore

Hi

Why cant I open Files direktly in my internet explorer anymore?
If it want to download a *.txt file, I get as ususeal the opotunity to save or open the file.
If I choose to open the file, nothing in it…
if I save it first and then open it, then all is fine

Same goes for *.rar files and I guess its goes on with all file types…

I think avast blocked for running any files internet tempory files
how can I correct this?

Sorry, avast doesn’t block files from being opened unless they contain a virus and then you would get the virus alert.

So this would appear to be a problem with Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer, perhaps a problem with file associations, but that is a guess.

It would also help to know if Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer is the correct meaning.

Good day to Avast loyalist

I am currently having problem with Avast and my internet. Everytime I use avast I cannot use the internet (google, internet explorer, mozilla, anything). But, if I terminate avast, my internet comes back. Why is that?

BTW, Im using Windows XP. Thanks.

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow ashWebSv.exe internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and do a manual update and reconnect to the internet, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.

You don’t have to terminate avast if the above doesn’t resolve you problem, then rather than terminate all protection, Terminate only the Web Shield whilst the problem is resolved.
