open icon from screen

Hi
I have the avast “ver 4.6 home edition” and suddenly i cant open the icon from the screen

please help me

You can use the usual method of starting the simple user interface, right click the avast icon and select Start avast Antivirus.

What error messages are displayed ?
Have you tried a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

But do you see the icon or not?
If you run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimpl.exe
what do you get?

I saw the icon but i couldn’t open it, now i opened with right click the avast icon select start, something that i didn’t do before

anyway thank for the advise :wink:

I assume that now if you double click the avast system tray icon the providers (avast shields) interface pops-up ?

But, is there a red cross in the icon? Are you saying that you need to ‘start’ the providers? (the last option in the menu) before doing anything else ??? ::slight_smile:
