OpenDNS questions

Inspired by a recent thread I made up my mind to try OpenDNS.

The initial setup went well and surfing was as before, didn’t see any differences.

As I understand it I was then surfing with standard setup for OpenDNS.

Logged into the dashboard and began setting it up after my liking.

That went well, but as I have dynamic IP’s from a large pool,
I tried the method of logging in to the Dashboard at every new session start
to update my IP which also went ok, but troublesome.
The main problem was that e.g. domains blocked earlier still was there,
but without the neccessary checkmarks to take effect.

I know you can download a program to automatically update your IP,
but as I understand it you still have to log in to make your settings every time.

I must have missed something concerning the ‘dashboard’ part of OpenDNS…

Anyone?

There is a downloadable process (you put in your logon details in that so you only do it once) that is run on boot so that when you connect it identifies the IP and that is forwarded to your dashboard setup using your logon details, so that it can filter to that IP.

Right click on the OpenDNS icon in the tray, select Change account, here you can input your details, see image.

Thanks;

That made it more userfriendly.

The blocking cababilities are impressive.
