What link exactly do you mean? What does it open in?

The link that says ‘Alwil Software Home Page’ (see below).
The link opens the Avast main page (http://www.avast.com/) in Internet Explorer, rather then my default browser Firefox 1.0.2.

Strange… it shouldn’t.
If you open a HTML file on your disk, does it also open in Explorer?

Nope, it opens in Firefox, all my HTML files also have the Firefox logo on them.

Strange, for me with Firefox open and browsing these forums - Run Cleaner and click on Alwil Software Home Page and it opens in IE.
Edit: Normally if I click on and external link (from an email, etc.) it opens in a new tab in firefox.

This is the same for me

I downloaded the Cleaner for try it… Lee and DavidR are right… My default is Firefox 1.0.2 and all html are opened with it… but not for the link to www.avast.com! :-\ Veeeeery strange, isn’t it? It’s different when iI open the “about” windows who shows the number of version, the licence number, etc… ((right click on the blue ball): in this case, Firefox is open correctly.

That works fine for me too, opens in a new Tab in firefox as I would have expected.
DavidR,
I modified now the file associations for *.url files… now all run ok! and you? ;D

I’ll do some debugging tomorrow to see what is going on there…
I.e. if possible, don’t change anything yet - so that we can try later if its fixed
Well, select a file with icon of IExplorer; now right click on it and scroll down; point the arrow pointer on “program”; now “open with”; you’ll see a window: here you highlight on Firefox icon then select the little white squared space on the left side below. Sometime maybe it doesn’t function. If it is your case you must use a cmd eindow but I don’t remember the string you must edit.
Hi Igor. excuse me (i’m not certainly a skilled user and I don’t want make counseling to you!),
but I imagine this isn’t a Avast bug. It depend 'cause the personal configuration of applications that users apply when they work with preferred programs… or not??? I’m not sure naturally… Can you say something about? Thanks very much.
Well, I intended the link in Cleaner to open in the default user browser (in a new window, in particular) - and it seems I didn’t do it right. I believe it should be easy to fix… (I know it’s not really a big problem, but still ;))
Thanks - it was just strange that it behaved differently to other external links (there are some other programs that do the same {open IE}).
I believe I found the problem… so when the Cleaner is updated again, the link should be opened in the default browser, as expected (at least I hope so ;))
