Opera built in mail client and Avast

Hello,

Does Avast home edition scan also incoming and outgoing mails I am sending or receiving with the built-in email client of the Opera browser? The icon in the system tray did not revolve when I got emails, so I assumed it was not scanning the emails. And I could also not see a note in the incoming or outgoing emails that they were scanned, although I set Avast to insert such notes.

Does anybody here know if Avast really scans those emails?

Thanks

Inbound mail is scanned into webmail if you’re using http (not https) by avast WebShield.
Outbound webmail is not scanned.

I use opera@usb and added op.exe to the ini file. Use the task mgr to see the exact name of opera’s exe. Do a search on these boards for opera.

The Opera email program is a normal pop3 email client, not web mail. The web shield presumably doesn’t come into it… But I am not sure of the settings to allow Avast to scan outgoing mail - something which I view as pretty pointless myself but others will think differently.

I use Opera’s imap for my email.

If you’re using avast 4, the outbound mail scanning should be:
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon.
Click Details button.
Choose Internet Mail and then Customize button.
On the tab SMTP you can set that.
