I use Opera’s M2 email client. It looks like the Internet Mail scan in the On-Access Scanner is using 100% of the cpu on my machine when M2 is downloading email. If I turn off the Scan Inbound Mail option the problem goes away, but now my email is no longer scanned. I was hopeing that this issue could be looked into more and maybe a fix could be made to not allow this to happen. It only started happening in version 4.5, in previous versions every thing worked fine.
Latest version 4.5.549 is working without any problems here with Opera.
I am using version 4.5.549 with Opera version 7.60 Preview 4.
The issue started with the update to Avast 4.5 and is only fixed when I turn off the Scan Inbound Mail option. I have tried many other methods involving Windows Xp, Windows 2000 with Opera 7.54 or Opera 7.60 Preview 1-4 with and without Avast and the problem only occurs with Avast installed.
I am checking 6 different email accounts, but the problem still occurs with as few as 1 email account.
I’m using Opera 7.54 registered and have no problem at all with the mail.
What settings do you have for the email scanning?
Are you using any other security software?
(firewall, spam filter etc)
