Opera Mail: The server's certificate chain is incomplete

Opera Mail: The server’s certificate chain is incomplete, imap.gmail.com, avast! Web/Mail Shield Root

Is there a proper way to fix this? These three don’t seem good:

I use Avast on my desktop system (running XP). When the dialog comes up, click on the second tab of the dialog.

There you will see an option to remember the choice for this certificate - click that checkbox, then click on Accept.

You’ll have to do the same thing for both the incoming and outgoing servers, so be aware that even though you’ve accepted the certificate (and told it to remember) for the incoming server you’ll get another dialog the first time you send mail to that account.

And of course if you have more than one account, that’s twice for each account.

Within Avast, I could un-check this:

Settings / Active Protection / Mail Shield - Customize / SSL scanning

[check] Scan SSL connections

The Mail Shield will scan your mail even when SSL/TLS security is enabled in your mail client.

If your mail client uses its own certificate store, the SSL scan feature will require you to export the Mail Shield certificate to a file and then import it to your mail client.

Tools / Mail Accounts /
Edit / Servers
Change this: Server / imap.gmail.com
To this: Server / gmail.com
. . . didn’t help . . . is there another, similar fix?

As has been explained before…
gmail is web-based and is already scanned by Google as well as avast.
Just disable the ssl scanning.

Thanks Eddy.

The error makes it look like something is wrong - some date on the certificates.

Un-checking to scan makes it seem like I’m decreasing protection.

Ok

It only seems that way, but in fact you keep the same protection.
So, don’t worry about it.

Every mail get’s checked twice.
Once by Google and once by avast.

If you want more protection, don’t use mail ;D
