optimize for dial-up?

What are some things I can do to optimize avast! 4.7 Home Edition for dial-up.

I have XP SP2.

Check program settings / Update (Connections) page.

Other than what Igor has said, you shouldn’t need to do any optimisation for dial-up. I have been using avast with dial-up for over two and a half years and the only other optimisation I have made is to delay the auto update.

Editing the avast4.ini [InetWD] section and add the line RASWaitSeconds=120 this delays the auto update check for 120 seconds rather than the default 20 seconds. That allows me to establish a connection and get started before auto update checks, this is handy if you just jump on-line download emails and disconnect to read off-line.

If you do this (short duration connections) auto update can start checking for updates and then you disconnect resulting in an update error being displayed.

[InetWD] RASWaitSeconds=120

Why would you ask about dial-up optimisation, are you experiencing any problems ?
