Option to Disable Ads when Paying for Product

It would be nice that if you’re paying for Avast Premium, that you don’t get subjected to all the ads and bloat.

The “More Apps”, the AI trash, all the little pop ups saying to try the vpn, the password manager, or whatever new waste of space that Avast has decided to add in. Using predatory practices like “You are EXPOSED” just to get me to spend more money on something that isn’t needed.

It’d be nice if I could disable the ‘Spam Guardian’ without it automatically being re-enabled as it would be tied to the standard shield control.

Every year or so, Avast just gets more and more bloated. All I want it to be is a simple anti-virus and firewall manager. That’s it.

Not some ad & bloat infested nightmare software.

For the pop-up ads, try this one:

That’s not a solution at all as there’s even an ad right in your image.
”More Apps NEW”

What I’m asking for isn’t something that exists as a current option, not really. Lessening ads isn’t removing them.

Well, less ad is better than more imo. Anyway, it’s your choice.

Seems odd to just accept having ads and bloatware. Probably why Avast has steadily been getting more and more bloated.

Should be able to remove:

  • Scam Guardian
    • especially with its “AI feature”
  • “Need more ___? Check out this!” sections
  • More Apps NEW
  • “Mobile”
  • Actually informing the user of when new options are added to the Privacy Controls
    • and not auto-enabling them

Can’t even manage devices anymore.
Can’t fully tweak the install anymore.
The UI could definitely be overhauled and allow the user to have customization options.

I think the same as you, I think that over time Avast becomes more and more bloated, with too many things, I no longer think Avast is a good antivirus for a weak computer that still uses HD

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member and I use Avast Antivirus free.

That is a static option you have to actually click that in the UI to see anything.

What NON is giving is a way to stop the more in your face promotions by disallowing Avast to use/share information on your app usage. Hopefully that will keep thins down to a level not so intrusive.

You night also consider changing your notification settings also.

I agree it isn’t a great idea to pee-off the paying customers.

Already had that set.
I’ve gone through everything, but Avast still likes to push trash to their users.

The fact that if I do a scan that I get this is absolutely insane. This is a giant predatory ad, and considering I’m paying for ‘Premium’ it shouldn’t even be something that displays. I’m not going to pay for Cleanup Manager or the VPN or whatever other thing they want to tack on.

I consider “Smart Scan” as such in the first place, so just don’t run it. Instead run individual scan depending on your needs.

Couldn’t agree more the Smart Scan doesn’t really give any more protection that the Active Protection within your Avast Premium product.

For me on-demand scans scans Smart or otherwise don’t bring much to the party.
With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

Amen brother Amen !!!

It feels more & more like the Avast Devs is actually ex Microsoft employees  … giving you stuff you don’t need to actually use the software.

They aren’t actually giving you stuff, they are trying to sell you stuff

I am actually considering other options, and I have had Avast for many years now. I am tired of the updates screwing my computer up and the bloated ads.

For your information, what you see here, “1 sensitive document is unprotected,” is not an advertisement to get you to buy another product, but a feature included in Premium Security: Sensitive Data Shield.

Let Premium protect this document and you will no longer see this message.

Otherwise, I also use premium, I also run smartscan but configured as NO, and as DavidR indicates above, I don’t have any purchase offers ruining my life…Even after running the smartscan

and If you don’t like this feature, remove it.

That skips over a lot. It isn’t about ‘ruining my life’, it’s about why allow ads in a purchased product?
Things get worse steadily, not immediately. The line gets pushed further and further as people then continually accept a worse product as it’s only a gradual change.
