options upon finding a virus

Hi, first time posting here. Been an Avast user for several years without any problems. My non-technical brother lives in another state and just got a new PC so I helped him set it up, complete with Avast home edition, over the phone. Soon after, his wife got an Avast pop-up virus warning when she used Hotmail via Internet Explorer. The problem/question: bro says the only choice Avast game him was something like “abandon connection”; says he didn’t see any of the normal options such as delete / fix / quarantine. What’s happening on his end; how do I diagnose this one?

You might have noticed the number of other Hotmail reports on first page of this forum when you you created your report … just look down the list.

After you have checked out the multiple topis about this, ensure you have the latest VPS update which corrects this.
