polonus

Try it you might like it. ;D

Looks very very nice Polonus.I am trying it right now and so far i am very impressed

Hi …::ReVaN::…

Just wondering does it work wiyh Web Shield.

Cheers Pete

Nope, that’s probably why pages load so darn fast… If you like Avant though you should really give this one a try, the more i play with it the more i like it

Cheers

Mikey

Thanks ReVaN I have used Avant before but not this new one.

I shall give it a try.

Cheers Pete

Hi folks,

But why will Bob3160 will give thumbs up on a browser when Avast Webshield cannot run inside it, or can it? Bob you are the Avant browser man here. I have the Webshield running inside my Flock browser, really fine and fast, no sweat.

polonus

Well Polonus, our friend Bob is the GREEN BROWSER man and i believe he only wanted to put our attention to ORCA browser  BTW i noticed ORCA still has some bugs(ofcourse it’s still in beta) and it eats more memory than Maxthon does.

Cheers

Mikey

OK how to set up webshield to work with Orca Browser:

Under Tools - Orca Browser Options - Proxy Server enter under address localhost and under port 12080 then click add. That’s it now webshield should work with Orca.

Here is how it should look like when you’re done:

Hi ReVaN,

Gonna try this browser out.

Some time ago I believe it was mentioned that not all browsers are supported only mainstream known browsers (as far as web shield is concerned) to avoid conflict, so it may be that Orca has to be added to the Optin programs in avast4.ini, [WebScanner] section.

If it doesn’t work after setting it up manually to use the web shield proxy, then perhaps it needs to optin.

Well fortunately it does work with the web shield when you enter the proxy settings

BTW Bob it’s called gecko (mozilla) engine

BTW Bob it's called gecko (mozilla) engine
A little typo even happens to the best of us especially if the spell checker doesn't catch it.... Every one knows Fire Fox, most novices don't know a mozilla from a gorilla..... ;D ;D ;D

Hi Bob,

This browser is not bad. First impression good. The one click adding to a black list is new.

polonus

Tried it twice. First time none of the favorites worked when clicking on them. Tried everything to get that to work. Un-installed, re-downloaded Ocra. This time everything worked alright. Must have been a corrupted first download. Using it now and it seems to work alright. Will keep it for a while and see how things work.

Darn… Now i really don’t know what browser will be my next primary one, so far these 3 beta browsers are my favorite and i really cannot choose beetwen them: Flock, Orca, IE 7… Is it just me or is there a browser fever this year?So many good browsers out there…

Well browser connoisseurs,

The default pop-up stopper in Orca can be defeated, so we need something additional, where to get it?
The history function is excellent, the representation of all the recent history in the browser Window is a revelation to me,
yes folks there are some strong sides to this browser. But it does not feel like a FF-style browser, no way, it leans more to the windows type browsers with msn search page as default, avant search engine is standard (they must count their clicks, ;D).
I miss the add search engines function in FF and Flock, con query.
If you want to port your searchengines files from FF to Flock, or from FF to the later version, you can just drop this inside the new program files, no problem, no sweat. Here you have to go back to this favorite: http://www.fravia.com/main.htm, and then I can search from and what I want.
Kartoo etc. is running better from inside Orca, the graphics rendering from Orca is a class apart. Flock is lean, fast and user friendly, but Orca has more for the eye. Have to feel its dents security wise, have not done so, but we will later give you another resumé of my findings. Well it is like good old ReVaN says, this gonna be not the year of the dog, but the year of the browser ;). Well let us see?

polonus

That’s one of the reasons i like it so much

Remember Polonus this is still in beta so expect to see some features added to this one.
