I installed a clean/ unmoded Windows XP that came with SP2, i kept hearing bugs in SP3 and i think windows installer is related to it too, so is it even worthy upgrading Service Pack 2 to SP3?
Also even if i decide to install much later on (i doubt tough since i get scared of having another damaged windows installer) does it make diference instaling all updates 1st and then SP3 as last thing?
If you have XP SP2 then download SP3 and install it off-line as that contains the updates after SP2 until the release of SP3. That will save trying to install all the other updates.
Once you have SP3 installed pay a visit to windows update and check for updates then you will only get a list for those after SP3, should be less to install.
The famous bug of Microsoft “Windows Installer” but no worries, after finishing updates of SP2 and instaling the things i need to work with,
only then i shall upgrade to SP3 because Windows Installer is the most bugy thing of microsoft.
Thats why i got a XP SP2 instead of that one that comes with SP3 already.
Most problems with the windows update are the result of users not allowing Windows to finish the update.
Once an update is interrupted, then the trouble starts.
Must say the moded XP i used could have been at fault too, after some number of instalations it, windows would become damaged.
Also tryed one XP that wasnt but still got few themes inside, so i went for a total clean and older XP SP2 to prevent conflits and install everything myself.
As a last thing sometimes also depends of the machine hardware your using.
You can either burn a SP3 installation CD or order the CD from Microsoft for a small shipping charge.
Seems to me this was discussed in detail not long ago and somebody objected to the tiny fee that Microsoft charged for the CD but maybe that was on MBAM forum?
Why is it only you out of the milions of Windows users with avast! that complains about Windows Installer problems?
