Other HTTP error (404) while trying to update!

Hi,

I’m not able to update my program or the iAVS. I get an “Other HTTP error (404) while trying 75.126…” error message. And yes I checked my proxy settings and I also tested the connection. I thought my key expired so I tried using the Demo version to see if the problem was with the key but its of no use. I’ve attached the log file since it was too huge to be pasted here.

Thanks

The demo works for 60 days at the first installation.
Only 6 days in the next ones. It’s an antipiracy feature.
Use, registering, the Home version is this computer is for home & non-commercial use.

I registered for a new Home Edition License Key. This is the key W58400138H4900A1106. The update worked only once after I inserted the new key!!

Better to not give publicity to the key itself. Please, edit your post.
I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the last version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Tech, that isn’t the full license key just the part that is shown in the about avast.

Tech,

I did everything you said but still no success. But, if you go through the log you’ll notice that the update was able to download almost all the packages except the last one. The update always snaps when its downloading the last package!! I’ve attached a screen shot of the error and the new log file.

Dsyfa, did you install from the scratch?
If you try to update off-line, downloading and executing (http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd.exe), will it work?

Yes I installed from scratch and yes the offline update works.

Hmmm… Are you using any other kind of filter for Internet (PeerGuardian, K9, etc.)?
Which firewall do you use? Which browser? If Firefox, any extension could be blocking the access to that IP?
