Is there another email program besides Mozilla Thunderbird that you set up to scan your email for viruses?
Also, is there an online email program that can do this?
Mozilla Thunderbird that you set up to scan your email for viruses?Thunderbird (or any mail client) does not scan for virus .... your antivirus progam does that
All mail providers have spam/virus filters on the mailserver (i dont know of any that dont)
Your outlook.com account (all free accounts from microsoft) is protected at the mail server by TrendMicro virus scanner and there own spam filter
Yahoo use Norton
Gmail use Postini spam/virus filter with two AV engines from Authentium and McAfee (may have changed)
Thanks for answering my question!
Do you happen to know though, if there is an email program like Thunderbird (one you don’t have to go onto the internet to check emails)
(and one that you could have an icon on your desktop to click on to check mail)
I don’t like to use Thunderbird anymore because it has a Junk Folder now, and whenever it puts a message in it that’s not junk, if I
mark the message as not junk or try to move it to my inbox the message disappears!
My favorite email at the moment is Outlook, but you can’t set Avast to scan those emails because it’s an online email account
You can’t get/check your email without going on the internet.
No internet = no email

Sorry, but you’re not getting what I mean.
The Thunderbird email program lets you put an icon on the desktop that you can click on to check your email,
while email programs that Outlook or Google Mail you have to bring up your browser then click on the
link in your bookmark folder.
I like Outlook, but I want to be able to see a message saying that my email is clean per Avast, like
when I use Thunderbird.
Outlook may use the TrendMicro virus scanner, but it doesn’t state the message is clean.
I’m more comfortable using Avast to scan my emails, but Thunderbird is the only email
program that I can see that message from Avast.

Thanks for your replies!
I’m going to try Mailbird because I asked and they said it works Avast
