I have the pesky Java/Dldr.Lamar.IX that kept popping up even after I’d scan and remove with my virus scanner. I followed the steps found on this forum this morning and I am now posting the log.

I uninstalled IObit this morning before I found this website. When I came home from work last night, I had their toolbar on my browser that I did not install. ??? As well as It kept wanting to update all day long. Very annoying. Now, I just need to get rid of the left overs from the unistall.
Here is the log from the other scan.
Also, I made a screen shot of something new in my directory… 3 program files, (86x) etc… odd… why did this happen??

Pondus, Here are the logs you requested… Sorry for the delay. Removing IObit became PITA.
Sorry, I just reread this… Yes, I need Java for work as the program they use requires it.
OK if you need Java you will probably continue to get these alerts, however, you can mitigate this by telling Java not to store temporary files. The first section on this page will show you how http://windows7themes.net/delete-java-cache-files-disable-java-cache.html
How is the computer running now ?
Thanks Essexboy for the link.
I’ve been at work for almost 12 hours so I’m home now testing it out… It seems to be running smoother and much faster. I cannot say thank you enough for yours and Pondus’ help earlier.
Have a great weekend.

Ok, I’m checking in Pondus :p, I’ll wait for my next command and check back after work and complete the task…
Still looking good with no alerts ?
Hey Essex,
There were not any alerts last night or this morning before I left for work… I’ll check it out in 5hrs after I get home from work…
OK once you are happy let me know and I will tidy up
I’m happy! Still working great, no errors… almost purrs like a kitten.
Thank you essexboy! time to finish your magic.

Subject to no further problems
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
Run AdwCleaner and press uninstall
Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.
Clear Restore Points
Go Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System tools
Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
When it pops up at the first prompt select OK after it has done some calculations the tabs will appear
Select More Options tab
Press Sytem Restore and Shadow Copies Cleanup button

: Keep Java Updated :
WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article and this article.
I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7729/mbamicontw5.gif
Malwarebytes.
Update and run weekly to keep your system clean
Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link
If you use on-line banking then as an added layer of protection install Trusteer Rapport
It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit
[*]Microsoft Windows Update
To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read our little guide How did I get infected in the first place ?Keep safe
Wow… thanks Essexboy. I’ll follow these recommendations. I used to have my own personal IT guy at home to do all my repairs and I never had to worry about these… Now it’s all up to me… :o
Thanks a heap!
