OTL tool marked as a rootkit. What?

One of the computer I’ve been working on is getting this message from Avast, when trying to download well known OTL scanner:

URL: http://oldtimergeekstogo.com/OTL.exe Process file://c:\programfiles{x86}mozilla files Infection win32 rootkill-gen{RIK}

I hope you guys can fix it quickly.

Pause/stop the Web Shield that will allow you to at least download it the avast file system shield may alert but have it take no action.

I have just downloaded it with this link http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe web shield stopped and no alert by the File System Shield and I also did a scan of the and no alert, ensure that you have the latest virus definitions.

EDIT: just tried it again with the web shield running and no alert.

Thanks for a very rapid reply :slight_smile:

I’ll ask the guy (working on his computer online) to check his definitions.

Thanks :slight_smile:

You’re welcome.
