I just recently renewed because my license had expired so I reregistered got the new number and updated the program. Ever since then my virus protection says it’s “out of date”. I’ve updated Avast and tried restarting but it still says the same thing and I have that red shield with the (x) on it on my address bar. Any suggestions.

The date was incorrect so I fixed it…what now? Should I restart?
Once you corrected the date avast and the windows security center should recognise that, but a reboot won’t hurt.
It will be good. But you need to repair your avast installation, at least.
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
