I have not used my computer for a week and today received the latest avast update but as soon as it says it has downloaded and installed it windows flags up the red shield in the notification area saying it may be out of date can anyone suggest anything?
ps I have checked that my computer date is accurate and even re-run the update process which confirms I am up to date, this is the first time this has happened for me
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
This has in the past sorted this out of synch situation.
I doubt that there is any problem at all. When I leave my other XP system without use for a week or so I too get the “out of date” warning from Windows until avast performs the VPS update.
I am pretty certain you have got the information the wrong way round … Windows flags the problem as soon as the system starts … avast waits 30 seconds after system startup before even starting the VPS update, after a week that update will take a while. Once the avast update completes Windows stops complaining.
i have the same problem and i have tried to repair it and it hasn’t helped. it happened right after it updated yesterday. another user sugested that it was because u havent used ur computer in a while, but mine is on about 20 hrs a day so i don’t think that is ur problem. let me know if u figure out how to fix this!
through reading other posts i discovered that my computer thought it was june 2009. not sure how that happened but i changed it, rebooted and now its fine. thanx though
