Newbie here. I run outlook 03, win xpsp3, and avast6 internet security. Has been working for about a month or so. 3-14-11 I open outlook to download 750 emails, it only gets through 10-20 or so and detects fakeav-bih and sometimes continues or hangs, if continue it goes another few emails and detects a krytik-aqw and usually will hang shortly after that. I have tired getting these downloaded for a dya and a half with varing results every time, but will never get further than 60 emails in before crashing. I now have over 1,000 emails waiting to be downloaded (of couse most are junk) but I do have a few I need in there. Is this a know issue? I really dont know what to do and how to proceed. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks you for any help you can offer.

Have you checked the Expert settings in the Antispam section of Additional Protection. There are a couple of options for Outlook.
I have use free version.
So,it’s not have antispam function.
My problem is when I open outlook 2003
If received virus message the avast 6 will show got virus message.
I can quarantine virus message.
But outlook 2003 also hangs too.
If I restart outlook 2003.
This virus message will received again.
This is a loop.
Please fix it.
Thanks a lot.
How about a webmail interface, is one available for you to use?
You could clean out all of the messages that you know are spam or ones you don’t want first, then have outlook download the legitimate messages.
Alternatively, you could use www.mail2web.com if you don’t have a webmail interface for the account in question.
It appears that krytik-aqw is a virus. and that may be causing the problem you are having.
Read the linked thread it could be of help.
