I’ll be waiting for updates from your side.
One more thing that just occurred to me, i have office 2007 enterprise installed. The version is 12.0.4518.1014. I do not have any updates for office installed through windows updates. I don’t know if there is any update for outlook that relates to add-ins but this could be one of the reasons. Just a guess.
So why don’t you update Office ??? It will make it safer and you would know if that took care of the problem. ![]()
Problem is solved. Thanks about. Still not sure from which step i was able to fix it but its ok now. Cheers ![]()
Have installed all updates for office but still no luck.
@Shanoto - What steps did you try to fix the problem?
Hi Petr,
Any updates on the issue?
Hi Petr,
Here is another update, i have disabled the outlook add-in by selecting “Yes” in the error messagebox. The add-in appears disabled in outlook trust centre but somehow, avast’s mail shield is still scanning emails when i receive them. Does that mean the add-in is still working? This way i don’t get any error message while opening outlook.
Hi,
MAilShield and addin are two different “tools”.
It means that if you disabled addin, MailShield will still scan your mails.
To disable it - uncheck scanning of inbound and outbound messages in MailShiled tab in avast GUI.
Then what is the add-in meant for? I have the free version and it has got just one add-in called “avast addin” and not another antispam add-in as in the case of paid version.
It is mainly for virus scanning (in AIS for antispam too, but its always called “avast! addin”) when you have SSL connection not listed in avast mailshield or you are using exchange account.
Hi Petr,
After disabling avast add in, i still get my emails scanned which is fine. Then what is the use of the add in? And i still don’t understand why i get the error if i enable it.
