Outlook 2007 crashing

Hi,

I’m running a Dell computer with XP Home Edition SP3 and Office 2007. I used to run Blink antivirus (from Eeye Digital Security). I installed Avast 4.8 Home Edition about 1 week ago.

Since that time, Outlook has been crashing an average of about 5 times per day. It simply locks up (“Outlook is not responding”) and I have to shut it down and restart it.

Please help me to figure out how to correct this before I uninstall Avast altogether.

What verson of Blink Security did you run?
Reason I ask, is because this sort of issue can be caused by incomplete removal of a prior product. In this case, there is info on one of eEye security’s Knowledgebase (Under KB000870) regarding a problem in the uninstaller of a particular version.
Might be worth checking.
(In case it’s not obvious, the previous product/s must be completely uninstalled, not just disabled, for Avast to work correctly.)

I’ve researched this and it does not apply to me as I was using an updated version of an old installer (Ver 4.1), which they indicate is exempt from this problem. This only affected Vers. 4.3.0 and 4.3.1.

Good thought, tho.

Anyone else at Avast! have any ideas on this?
