I have the PRO version and have just bougth a 10-pack of licenses which I am afraid to use now… Avast has worked lika a charm before 7.
After uninstall Outlook works.
I should add I use OutLook Contact Business Manager.
Just wondering if Avast is looking into this issue? Perhaps someone on the Avast team can advise us? There were no issues with Avast 6.0 which worked fine with Outlook 2007. It only happened after the update to 7.0.1426.
Outlook 2007 freezes whenever I send an e-mail. I have to use Task Manager to restart Outlook. Outlook also 2007 does not exit normally after I read new e-mails. I have to use Task Manager to shut it down (Outlook.exe is still running in the Processes and has to be manually shut down).
Thus it would appear that the issues are related to the scanning of incoming or outgoing e-mails. Unchecking the Scan incoming or outgoing e-mail in Avast helped initially but no longer works. My operating systems are Windows Vista Ultimate and Home Premium (two computers), 32 bit. Outlook is SP3 and Win Ultimate is SP2.
There are suggestions that it may be related to Business Contact Manager in Outlook but I am trying not to uninstall BCM if I can help it.
Thanks.
I have unistalled the Avast 7 and everything works like a charm.
I have almost 10 other computers which I wont upgrade to 7, but I would like to rollback to Avast 6 or install 6 but I cannot find anywhere to download Avast 6 anymore. :-[
I’m also having the same problem with Outlook 2007 freezing. I can always read the first message then it freezes. I close it with Task Manager, then re-open & can read a few messages before it freezes again. Closing the Mail Shield did not solve it.
If I remove Avast what will happen to a couple of things in the Virus chest? Can I remove them before I re-install Avast or do they stay on my pc?
I had been happy with Avast (7.0.1426) –it detected and removed a Ransome Virus my previous paid-for AV did not deal with!. I have XP Pro SP3 and use IE8.
Thanks
had the same problem see the post from a few days ago.
Just disable the outlook plugin for avast in outlook. run outlook as adminitrator (shift right click outlook icon) then go under tools, trust center, go to com addins and turn it off.
testing that now!
I couldn’t find a solution that worked on my pc so unfortunately I had to install Avast & change to another anti-virus provider. Pity beause Avast seemed so good in other ways
i did try the Microsoft 2007 Office system cumulative update for April 2012
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2685445 hotfix package!
Outlook-x-none.msp 2598135 Description of the Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp): April 24, 2012 Outlook 2007
And it helped in my case after a long search!
I took the advice of someone in this Forum and uninstalled the BCM module of Outlook 2007. That solved the problem. Outlook can now be used again without freezing every time more than one window was opened. But now I cannot use Business Content Manager.
Oddly, I don’t see any Avast support staff even acknowledging this problem, much less addressing it. Until you are able to fix the malfunction, could you please tell us how to uninstall Avast 7 and reinstall 6? Avast 7 stops Outlook from working with BCM installed. It’s that simple.
I have enjoyed using this free anti virus solution for several years and think it is (was) the best. The last thing I want to do is be forced to use something ponderous and invasive like Norton. A little help please?
The fix posted by kpurdu1 worked for me. THANKS
Here it is again:
