Can anyone help with this? Outlook crashes and MS points to Avast…
Can you expand a bit more, what were you doing at the time of the crash ?
What is the full text of the error message or windows event viewer entry ?
What is your OS ?
What version of MS Outlook are you using ?
I am using outlook 2003 sp2 and IE 6. The message says fatals errors because of BCM etc!!!
I was either trying to sendan e-mail or reply…
The error message normally has a faulting application and a faulting module, frequently this might point to avast as the application but the faulting module (the real culprit) may not actually belong to avast.
Can you check the windows event viewer for this problem or can you replicate it again ?
I’m sorry I can’t be much practical hep as I don’t use Outlook, what is ‘BCM’ ?
error message contains ashoutxt.dll
Business Contact Manager
Yes the ashoutxt.dll is the outlook/exchange plug-in/provider, so is that the faulting module or application (or isn’t that given). Because of my total lack of Outlook experience I can’t see a direct link with the Business Contact Manager and the Outlook plug-in when it would be scanning email.
Hopefully one of the Alwil team or someone with some experience of Outlook will pick up on this.
Clutching at straws perhaps - Is the avast plug-in disabled in Outlook ?
Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
What exactly does the error message say? Are there any additional information there (error codes, addresses, …)?
It states that business contact manager has encountered a prob and needs to close. I lose data in the send to part of the outlook window and at times requires a reboot
