Outlook email read as webmail?

I have a “1and1” web email account which is POP3 and I get it through outlook 2003. My question is, how come 0n the on access screen the number of emails scanned is only under the webmail service and not the Outlook?

Eric

Can you post a screenshot of your Outlook plugin?
Are you saying that emails through Outlook are not being scanned by avast?

They are being scann by avast just not by the right element of avast. See attached.

It may be that because I also use AOL besides outlook that I am using port 587 instead of 25 for my outlook emails (AOL Blocks Port 25)

Do you have the plug-in enabled in MS Outlook ?

The images posted aren’t of the MS Outlook plug-in but the avast outlook/exchange provider.

Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items

What surprises me is that the Internet Mail is scanning them at all as the Internet mail would only be monitoring ports 110, 25, 119 and 143, so it should ignore any other ports such as 587 (unless you have made changes to the Internet Mail provider, which you didn’t mention).

They aren’t being scanned as web mail, the Internet Mail is for pop3 email clients like OE, Thunderbird, etc. (perhaps confusingly named but there is always the help file) the Web Shield would scan web mail, that viewed through your browser.
