Outlook error after update to 4.7.981

Help !

I’m receiving the following errors after updating to 4.7.981

OS: Win98SE
Email: OutlookXP

I’ve uninstalled & reinstalled Avast but still get the errors.
Outlook plug-in is enabled - Tools | Options | Other | Advanced Options | Add-in Manager | avast! 4

Disabling the plug-in stops the error messages of course.

Need any more info?

EDIT: I’m also getting these same error messages when sending emails with attachments.

Interesting; I’ll have this tested tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up.

BTW, are you using Outlook in Internet Mail or Exchange Server mode? And if ES, do you use offline folders (folder caching)?

Internet mail only.
No bells, no whistles . . .

EDIT: I’m also getting these same error messages when sending emails with attachments.

I had to use system restore on my Win Xp machine after the latest program update because Outlook Express would crash with a “cannot connect to imap server” error which would continually loop and spill the errors over the page. After restore Avast is now at version 4.7.942 again with no problems. Unfortunately I neglected to reset program update to"manual" so the program automatically updated again…back to the restore again perhaps?

Digiti, are you using a firewall? Maybe it’s just because you haven’t enabled the new ashMaiSv.exe to access the Internet (in your firewall configuration).

I am getting the exact same error after the latest update too. I’m running a Windows 98SE machine with Outlook 2000. I get the error message when I receive a new email, try to read a new email, and when I try to send an email. I’m assuming that the Avast program is not being able to scan the email. But I have no idea how to fix it. I’m open for suggestions too because I would like to get this fixed.

Thanks!

Well, I’m glad it’s not just me . . . and it seems to be an Avast problem with Win98SE and the Outlook plug-in.

Extremely annoying problem, huh?
I’ve temporarily disabled the Outlook plug-in until this is addressed by Avast.

I see others are having the same issue.

Ditto on newview’s experience and comments . . .only thing different is that I have Outlook 98. Hope this gets fixed soon.

I have experienced the same problem - I really do hope it gets fixed soon too!

OK . . . shifting into patiently waiting mode . . .
