Outlook/Exchange help

Outlook/Exchange help

I am new to Avast – But so far I am impressed but I am not sure if my email is set up OK

With Outlook/Exchange I get this message “this provider is waiting for a sub system to start”
Is this normal
And what does “7 providers total 6 running” mean

Please keep your replies simple

Cheers

Yes it’s normal if You dont have Outlook/Exchange running, it doesnt start until u open outlook/exchange.
If u use outlook express( basic version of outlook), then the internet mail provider will take care of it, not the outlook/exchange provider. Hope this helps.

Simply, you have 7 resident providers installed and only 6 of them are running.

Click on the avast icon and this should display the On-Access scanners, just check and see what is running, the likelihood is that the Internet Mail scanner is disabled because you have the Outlook/Exchange provider selected.

If there are other providers there that you don’t require, such as IM or P2P (if you don’t understand what these are, it’s likely you don’t have these programs and don’t need the providers running). You can terminate any of them that you don’t require.

Take a little time to browse the avast help file, resident providers section for more information and get the best out of avast!
