Thank you for registration info. I found when using avast that I couldn’t
use my Outlook Express email facility - referring to some restriction by
avast prog. Is this usual? How do i get round this problem?

First of all, is Sygate allowing all avast components to access the internet?
Also what email are you trying to receive (from where)
If you disable avast, does your mail get though?

I can get Outlook Express up on the screen, but then get 2 lots of error messages relating to avast stopping somehting or other happening. I can’t then access any existing messages , emails etc.
I don’t know how to look at Sygate to check what you ask - I’m a novice when it comes to anything that doesn’t happen as it should.
When I removed avast - all works ok

Nigbo,
See the image below, i have highlighted the avast web scanner in a red box, as long as it doesn’t have a cross or a question mark on it on your Sygate panel, then your sygate is alowing avast ;).
, but then get 2 lots of error messages relating to avast stopping somehting or other happening.
What are the exact error messages?

2nd error message is:-

Can you identify the process kavsvc.exe? Is it Kaspersky Antivirus? (are you running KAV and avast at the same time?!)

Two resident scanners can cause conflict and on several occasions avast doesn’t install all components (to avoid conflict and lock ups, etc.) because it finds another resident AV.

How do I get Internet mail provider running
I have clicked on start but when I put my mouse on the a ball it only shows the 4 running that have always been. I think that is my problem with getting the outlook express scanned.
It was scanned before the new edition
