outlook express wont work for me?

Hello there,

I know there is another thread about this but I read it and it doesnt help me.

I just downloaded avast and now my outlook express wont work. Any ideas? ty

Did you boot after installing?
Are you using windows 98 or XP?
Can you manually run Mail Protection Wizard (Start Menu … avast antivirus … MPW)?

yes I booted
I am using win 98
I did manually run the Mail Protection Wizard

When I open outlook express it asks me to logon with my password over and over again.

Gerry - I remember reading a post in here where someone else had a problem with the re-occuring “login with password” problem. So, the answer is in the forum somewhere. Perhaps a better search would find it?

Try some procedures:

  1. Configure the way you connect to Internet (dial-up or DSL)
    avast settings > Connections (Basic) and (Advanced)
  2. See the Internet Settings for connections (generally: Tools > Options > Connections): do not dial, dial the standard connection, by LAN, etc.
  3. Post here your email account settings (do not post your password and use ‘generic’ usernames). We can guide you… 8)

thanx everyone for posting. Just called my internet provider which is sympatico in canada here and they have a site where i can go check my email without using outlook.

There is only one problem with that. Where is your virus protection???

avast is working just coudnt use outlook express is all.

Wont avast kick in if I open something from my email site like it would on another site?
