What OS?
What email client do you use?
What exact provider is saying “waiting…”?
The help section also says:
Version 4.5 of avast! Antivirus brings a new method of email protection. It does not require any manual settings (additionally, the accounts in the email programs are preserved). So, if you use avast! 4.5 or higher and your operating system is Windows NT, 2000, XP or 2003, you can safely ignore the following paragraphs - your email will be protected automatically, just as it is in MS Outlook or MS Exchange clients.

rorschach,
I think what you are looking at is the MS OUTLOOK EXPRESS module in the On Access Protection Console.
Outlook Express which is a different mail client does not have its’ own module.
Unless you are using MS Outlook Exchange, the module will not run and is not necessary. You can even remove it if you wish.
Good luck.

Yes, you are protected. OE uses the Internet mail module.
Nice to have you here on the forum!

If you are using Outlook Express, than the Internet Mail Provider is for you.
As stated clearly in the help/manual, and as has been explaind many times on this board… The Outlook/Exchange provider is for those who use Outlook (NOT express) or Exchange as email client.
