I just downloaded AVAS Free version for home use.
I have be been using Norton for all these days.
Here are the clarifications I require
AVAST does not display a pop window that indicates out going mails are be scanned. Is it the expetc ed way to be have.
Or is there a way to make the pop up active.
How do I know that there are some files infected and that they have been cured.
I also use Spyware Doctor which is quite good.
Can these two co-exist?
I found that AVAST works only for OUTLOOK and not OUTLOOK Express.
How to make it work fork for Outlook Express?
avast! works for Outlook Express - but in a different way.
While avast! has a special plugin for full MS Outlook (which makes it possible e.g. to display the splash screen), it works as POP/IMAP/SMTP proxy for Outlook Express (and other “ordinary” e-mail clients). So, you won’t see the splash screen, but you can enable displaying of “performed action” in the configuration of the Internet Mail provider - so you’ll see whatever avast! is scanning.
The avast ‘a’ icon should rotate when emails are being scanned and another icon ‘email scan’ should also appear.
are we still talking email here ?
If an infected file or email is detected you will know all about it as all hell will break loose, an audible and visual alert is displayed.
You are then presented with options pertaining to that infection.
There is no problem running spyware doctor and avast.
The outlook/Exchange is only for MS outlook not express, Terminate this provider if you don’t have MS Outlook. The Internet Mail is the provider that supports multiple pop3 email clients like outlook express (which I use), thunderbird, etc.
