After the last autoupdate to 4.1.357 i had to turn of the Exchange Provider because Outlook 2003 freezes when receiving new mails.
How can i go back to the previous version?
Or is there already a bug fix?
Greetings
Bernhard

Outlook freezes? When download viruses or any messages? And it used to work in the previous version??
What OS are you using?
when you disable “Insert notes into … messages” for incoming emails, is it still frozen? thanks. pavels
yes it did but now it works again after running the detect and repair tool of office twice.
I opened my outlook but when exchange provider was running soon outlook didn’t react. When i deactivated the provider outlook opened without problems
System: Win XP SP1, Outlook 2003
Was really strange …
2 pavels: couldn’t test it. sorry. Will test it if problem comes again.
I had only enabled the insert message into infacted messages.
Have now scanned my .psd files but no virus was detected
Problems started again! Now i have tested a liddle bit.
it seems that the problem comes up when avast is checking a mail because when i deactivate the check archived messages i can browse trough the mails with no problem but when i activate the option to check archived messages outlook freezes and i can only kill the task. (the icon that the provider is working is shown all the time)
2 pavels:
deaktivating “Insert notes into … messages” didn’t help only deaktivation of scann archived messages but when a new message arrived i had again problemes because this wasn’s disabled.
WOH… now i have deaktivated the scan archived mails while outlook hang and then i klickt a lot of times on the outlook icon in the taskbar ==> several messages: "Outlook doesn’t react. If you are connected to an Exchange Server you can cut the current connection to the server … " (i am not using the Exchange modus (use Pop3 with Outlook2003))
but then outlook reakted again. and i could browse all my mails
aktivation the scan archived mail option effected in new problems…
Any suggestions?

I can only guess…
Maybe a port conflict…
Do you use any spam killer?
Do you use a proxy filter? Or firewall?
Can you test if the Outlook Express works with your email account and scan the messages (you must activate the Internet Mail provider)?
I’ll try to think a little more in your problem and come back :-\
