Outlook issues: Sent item subjects change to SPAM

I have no idea what’s going on with my email lately, but since I updated Avast and the Spam buttons are back in place, I’ve noticed a weird issue happening.
If i view my Sent Items folder, everything looks as it should. However, if I click on one of the sent items to view the message, the subject of that message automatically changes to a spam message… usually copying an actual random spam message that has been moved to my junk folder by Avast. I cannot figure out how to make this stop happening and it’s making it increasingly difficult to find past sent messages since I cannot search the subject line after it changes it. I’m attaching a screenshot of my sent folder so you can see what I mean. Is anybody else having this issue in Outlook or know how I can stop it!?

I’m also having this problem since the latest update of Avast. Now when I send an email, I blind-copy myself. When it comes into my inbox, I move it to my sent mail and the subject line stays correct. It’s a pain, but better than having all the sent emails with corrupted subject lines. Hoping they fix this bug soon.

I am having the same problem. It is now becoming impossible to find emails that I have sent. What is being done to rectify this?

What version of MS Outlook are we talking about here?
I see no such change with my Outlook 2003
My ‘Sent’ Folder interface does not look like your Screenshot. ???

Hello to all,

I’m facing the same exact issue: I sent normal email and when look in sent item, subject writes *** SPAM ***Get Laid Nightly. The weird thing is that (I always bcc my self and other accounts) the receiver “sees” the original subject.

I run Vista, outlook 2007 enterprise, avast inenet security, all shields are on, scanned outlook folder with no results.

I would appreciate your help on this issue,

Alexandros

Update:

I dont know if this helps but the “change” happens only when I click the sent item, not on its own.

Same issue:

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
Outlook 3 version:11.8330.8341 SP3

If you exit out of outlook and then restart it, the issue stops (for the time being)

You might want to try the latest beta build as it resolves a number of Outlook issues:

* Outlook plugin - Fixed crashes - Fixed unwanted subject changing - Improved performance

If you aren’t willing to try the beta then you will have to wait for its release as a regular program update. For me this beta has been very stable, but I don’t use Outlook.

I have found one fix to this problem, it’s not really the greatest or most final fix, but it has cleaned up my mailboxes from the SPAM crap… If you open your avast program from your system tray, and go into “Additional Protection”, under “Expert Settings” there is a check mark for “Mark in subject of spam messages” If you uncheck that, it will no longer change your messages, although avast somehow still sees these messages as spam, being that they are not actually spam, you can go about your day working and not being bothered by these crazy spam changes. You will also stop getting panic attacks that possibly you sent one of your clients an email with the subject of “SPAM GET LAID TONIGHT!” I hope this helps. Here’s a screen shot of the window containing this stuff. This just seems like a huge fail by avast… I am not happy with this, especially with all of the free virus software out there, I paid for this one for some peace of mind only to find out I’m not the only one with this problem. FIX THIS OR I GO TO NORTON! lol how’s that! (I’ll never go back to Norton… but dont tell them that…)

It is already fixed in the current beta build, you can try that or wait for the regular release.

Danke for the quick fix and the soon to update fix ;D
