Outlook won't open unless I disable Avast

Hi All,

This is my first post so please let me know if I’ve posted to the wrong page.

Very simply put, since installing Avast! Free on my Windows machine recently I’ve found that Outlook doesn’t open at all but if I open outlook in Safe mode and leave Avast disabled it works just fine.

I’ve spoken to Microsoft who confirmed that the only add-in causing the problem is Avast. Can anyone suggest how to fix this error?

A clean uninstall and re-install has seemed to fix Outlook issues…a REPAIR has not.

Are you being intentionally vague about what versions of the software you’re running?

I’m not having any problems here with Outlook 365 on Windows 8.1 x64.
