Outpost firewall

I am using

Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Intel(R) Core™2 CPU
T5200 @ 1.60GHz
1.60 GHz,
1.99GB of RAM

I have installed avast antivirus free version, malwarebytes anti-malware free version, super anti-spyware free version and outpost firewall 2009 free version .

What host protection level should I use for Outpost firewall?plz help.

I’m not entirely sure what it is that you mean (?) as there are several options that would fall into that category, “host protection level.” Let Outpost take care of most Host Protection issues, see image, whilst I use Outpost firewall Pro 2009, I don’t know the settings for the free version, but I would have thought this one would be the same.

You may find some info here

Outpost Forum http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/

I am talking about the settings for host protection level.

Should I keep it to

Maximum

Advanced

or,

Optimal

I have shown you the image I have mine set on (click to enlarge) and that suite me, I can’t say what might suit you and how you use your computer. The higher the level the more pop-ups you are going to have asking for permissions for applications.

@ debanjan

Why not update your signature like DavidR an avast! Überevangelist has then you won’t have to type your system specifications all the time.

Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then Signature: and put information about your system just like my signature about your system just like my signature so that the helpers can offer pertinent advice.

debanjan,

Since you reinstalled your firewall recently, it is still in the Learning Mode for about a week. Therefore leave your settings at default, esp. the Host Protection Level. You really shouldn’t need to change them especially with Avast running as well. You may find later that you want to elevate things to be a bit stronger, but wait and see how things work with your other software since you have recently added several things and you want to see how they play together.

There is also an online user manual for your firewall that I suggest you read and/or print, and the previous suggestion of visiting their forum is a good idea to ask questions directly.

And if you don’t enter your signature, YoKenny will remind you every time you make a post (sorry YoKenny, but I know you by now  ). If you still have questions how to do this, let us now and we’ll help you.

I use optimal.
Sometimes the warnings pop up when I install programs, asking if I want to allow whatever action is happening, you just keep cliking allow and all will go well.
What is nice however is that you get that “last minute” second chance.
Just my 2 cents.

Edit added:
I am posting a thread link to a kinda funny post I put in another section
that pertains directly to Outpost with !avast.
