Dear Forum,
I would be interested to hear your current assessment of the Outpost Free Firewall.
- Is it compatible with MBAM and Avast?
- How reliable have you found its performance?
- Is it a resource hog?
Thanks in advance!

Ja har brukt den og likte den veldig godt. Ingen problemer med MBAM og avast. Nesten full automatisk, veldig lite pop opp varsler.
Sorry. for the Norwegian but avastfan need to practice his swedish ;D ;D
Whilst I use the Pro version I have no problem with it and avast, not is it resource hungry.
@ Pondus: Tusen tack! Det hjälper mig mycket!
@ DavidR: What specific advantages does the Pro version hold for you?
It is much more configurable and if you are into other modules other than a firewall it has those too, me personally I want my firewall to be just that a good firewall.
I bought the Outpost Pro version many years ago on a great lifetime license offer for the same as a 1 year license, couldn’t resist. At that time I was using the outpost free firewall, that however was version 1.0 and it lagged well behind with little development. More of a hook to have you consider the paid version. It is only recently that the 6.x free version was released and it is a fine firewall.
Thank you very much for the detailed, honest reply.
You’re welcome.
@DavidR: I have a question.
Outpost (Free version) still in version 2009 (the latest paid version is 7), it have a behavior application protection, and my question is: This will be incompatible with avast! Behavior protection alongside ThreatFire? See my signature.
Hi, the pro version has more detailed/advanced logging than the free one.
Outpost Pro has had something akin to behaviour application monitoring for some time (pre-7.0) and I have never had a problem with it. I don’t use Threatfire, I have never felt the need for it. See image for the listing of outpost pro 7.0 settings.
1.Yes
2.Very very good
3.of course not,it is so light
It is my first option now if i have been asked for a firewall.
I think you will get more by using comodo’s firewall; you get more than just a firewall
The very best advice that I can give is : try all free firewall (known ones of course).

Tenko
COMODO you need a security course to use it,so if you are even a professional user may you cant deal with it.
I miss the old style firewalls.
